Our animals do have consistent access to their habitats, both indoor and outdoor spaces, from 9:00am to zoo closing. Generally, the best time to view the animals is in the mornings and late afternoons, when they are most active. Some of our animals are expert nappers and often are missed by visitors quickly passing by as they nestle in the trees or snuggle into their favorite shady spot. We encourage guests to take time to locate animals within their exhibits and often staff and volunteers are aware of these “favorite” areas and if you ask, they can point them out in their exhibit.
If there is a particular animal you’re very interested in seeing, we suggest visiting that habitat first, then if the animal isn’t easily seen or active, you may can revisit the habitat later and see it at that time.
In some special circumstances such as extremes in weather, construction, births, feeding, and veterinary procedures, certain animals may be removed from public viewing during these circumstances to ensure the best possible care.
